Contextual Layers

What is a contextual layer?
A contextual layer is any information which is not a project but provides context to the area surrounding it – for example it could be a bus route, haulage routes, notable trees, sites of significance to Māori, planning consents etc. If there’s a layer you’d like to see, please contact us

How do I turn on a contextual layer?

  • Click on the layers icon in the sidebar menu.
  • Here you can turn on/off various project and contextual layers.
  • Scroll to the contextual layers section.
  • Click on the drop down arrow to expand the menu.
  • Click on the name of the layer to turn it on or off.
  • A grey dot next to the region indicates that there is at least one layer turned on.

How do I add a contextual layer?
Contextual layers are currently added by the helpdesk.  If there is a geospatial layer you’d like to see in the FWV please contact us.
