What is a contextual layer?
A contextual layer is any information which is not a project but provides context to the area surrounding it – for example it could be a bus route, haulage routes, notable trees, sites of significance to Māori, planning consents etc. If there’s a layer you’d like to see, please contact us.
How do I turn on a contextual layer?

- Here you can turn on/off various project and contextual layers.
- Scroll to the contextual layers section.
- Click on the drop down arrow to expand the menu.
- Click on the name of the layer to turn it on or off.
- A grey dot next to the region indicates that there is at least one layer turned on.
