Feature Release update

It’s finally here – the functionality we have been designing and building which will supercharge the way you use the Forward Works Viewer!

New features

Single Sign On

Anchor subscribers are now able to take advantage of Single Sign On. This means that users won’t need to apply for an account and have a separate log-in. Instead, the FWV will be linked to your Active Directory, so you are in control of who from your organisation has access to the FWV. It also has the added benefit of when a staff member leaves, their FWV account is automatically deactivated.

We will be rolling SSO out to all anchor subscribers over the next 6 months, but if you’d like to expedite this, please contact us.

Spatialise your projects within the FWV if your organisation doesn’t have the ability to do it in-house

All users are now able to send flat files (for example excel spreadsheets) with no shapefiles to us for bulk loading.  If your organisation doesn’t have any shapefiles for your projects, that’s fine – you can draw the shape of your project within the FWV.  Send us your data, we’ll upload it and let you know when it’s in the system.  All you need to do it head to ‘My Organisation’s Projects’ menu, use the filter to find ‘projects with no boundary’, find your project, click edit and add the boundary.  Simple!! You can even request API access to download all of your data to republish back into your GIS system. If your projects are manually added to the FWV, use this help guide here to add project boundaries, and if your projects are automatically uploaded, find help here.

Saved Searches

Got a search that you run often? Now you can save your search parameters so you can apply the search again and again at the click of a button!  Saved searches will also form the basis of the soon-to-be-released watchlists, see more on that below.
To save your search, click ‘save’ in the search panel and enter a name. Your search will be saved in the top dropdown box in the search panel, and can be amended or deleted at any time.

update saved search

You can search an area of interest from the search panel by drawing a boundary on the map. Drawing tools enable you to draw an area of the map you’re interested in, and add additional search filters such projects belonging to a specific organisation, or a certain infrastructure type. This functionality is especially useful if you’re wanting to be kept updated on any project activity happening within a specific area – for example you might be running your own project site, so you draw a boundary around your project site, save the search as a watchlist, and choose to be notified of any changes on your watchlist – you’ll always be kept updated of any new project activity within the boundary you have drawn.

Search by custom boundary

If you create a saved search, you can turn it into a watchlist which will sit in your dashboard. This means that when any project matching your search criteria is added to the Forward Works Viewer, it’ll automatically be added into your watchlist. This is especially useful when you also have your notifications enabled – you won’t miss a beat!

Turn your saved search into a dynamic watchlist

You can bookmark a project of interest, which’ll add it to your dashboard for future reference. Super useful if you want to ‘favourite’ a project and come back to it at a later date, or keep an eye on it.

Bookmark projects of interest

Choose to receive notifications on a weekly basis straight into your inbox – detailing how many watchlists you have, what new projects have been added into your watchlists, and what the new clashes and opportunities are with your bookmarked and watchlisted projects.

CAR data from MyWorksites available in the Forward Works Viewer

We’ve been working with MadeCurious (creators of MyWorksites) to make their CAR data available as an interrogable layer within the Forward Works Viewer. The roadworks data falls under the Events category layer and can be switched on and off and searched for.
